A beaucoup problemo, Calvin!: A Question, Please
I’m curious about something.
How many of you came to the DC or Marvel universes initially through either the films, or animated series?
Did you fall in love with superheroes through comics, or was your first real exposure to them from other media?
And finally, specifically,…
Same here. I watched all the DCAU shows, which had a big impact on my concepts of who the characters are. I’be never really cared for Hal Jordan because he seems like such a dunce against Stewart and I can’t really get into any other depictions of Hawkgirl because the Justice League one is just so great.
The humor and self-awareness of DCAU also sometimes make it difficult for me to watch things like TDK because it’s so. dark. And heavy.

So, Man of Steel. Better than Superman Returns (& Green Lantern), not as good as I’d hoped. Aside from some big logic fails/plot holes, it mostly is just crushed by its own weight. A little like Kal in Kryptonian atmosphere (*rimshot*). A little more levity - especially from the titular dude - could’ve gone a long way. And at least one less boss battle. Man, do those get tedious.
BUT BUT I was fairly pleased with Lois. She got some stuff to do, they didn’t insult her intelligence as much as some other versions. And I think that’s why I was more okay with one of the biggest changes to canon. It actually makes more sense where Lois is concerned. So, while Jor did imply at one point that Kal should save her so she could be his baby incubator, I am mostly on-board with this Lois and would look forward to seeing more of her.
NOW GIVE ME JUSTICE LEAGUE WITH A GREAT WONDER WOMAN. (& John Stewart. Not Hal.)

Photos of Patrick Stewart doing things.
(All photos: @SirPatStew)
I’m just going to quietly put him in my list of ‘old men I want to be like when I grow up’
Its a… lengthy list…
That’s Sir Patrick Stewart, to you, my dear! ;)
Sir Patrick is a National Treasure.
God bless him.
His Twitter account is great and you should all follow him. Smiles for days (& hystetical giggles at work when the Picard one showed up).
